As many of you are aware, the West U Little League Seniors defeated Northern California, 9-7, to become 2009 Senior League World Series Champions.
At tomorrow’s West University Place City Council meeting (Monday, August 24), we will discuss a parade celebration to honor these young men and their families. The meeting will be at 6:30pm at the Council Chambers, 3800 University.
The exact language of the agenda item is:
“Matters related to a parade to recognize the WULL boys 16 and under team for their accomplishments in winning the 2009 State Championship, 2009 Southwest Region United States Championship, and their showing at the 2009 Little League World Series.” (For legal reasons the agenda had to be posted before the final game was played)
It was a great victory. Kevin Roy was the winning pitcher and Stewart Cartwright earned the save. Catcher Cole Lankford went 4-for-4 with 2 singles, a double, a home run, 3 runs and 4 RBI to lead the offense.
The World Championship roster includes Davis Atkins, Stewart Cartwright, Luke Cone, Andrew Dunlap, Hugh Echols, Ryan Farney, Evan Fichter, Travis Gauntt, Harrison James, Joshua King, Cole Lankford, Matt Luna, Cameron Neal, Samuel Reid, Michael Resnick, Kevin Roy and John Williamson.
